SHEFFIELD PUB WALK
Finally managing on our 3rd attempt to repeat our Sheffield pub walk of 2019, seven of us met up in Heeley with a planned route back to the train station taking in 7 pubs in all.
The weather was warm but overcast which meant that we could sit in the gardens of several of the establishments in comfort.
The first pub, the Broadfield had 6 cask beers and several keg on tap with a nice garden and a large menu. The cask beers were True North Laik, Abbeydale Moonshine, True North Stones bitter, Sharpes Solar Wave, True North Devika and Pentrich Retro Stripes.
Crossing the River Sheaf we headed to the Crown Inn another pub with a decent sized garden. Available here were more national options and a couple of small brewery beers including Salopian Oracle, Pedigree Amber, Wadworth 6x, Bombardier and Farmers Blonde.
Passing the Red Lion our next stop was the White Lion with its traditional décor, wood panelling and stained glass. On offer here was Dancing Duck Abduction, Ossett Yorkshire blonde, Titanic Raspberry Blonde, J W Lees Bitter, Oakham Citra, Laine Best, Ringwood 49er and Butcombe Original.
By this point our dark drinkers were getting desperate so on to the next venue. The Brothers Arms with its views over Sheffield is always a favourite although the uphill walk adds to the need for sustenance. The weather continued nice with some sun breaking through so the garden beckoned with our choice from the beers available of Abbeydale Deception, Collaboration Vocation Tonka Frappe, Brass Castle Sweet Tooth, Welbeck Red Feather, Stones bitter, Peasantry Dancing Dragonfly, Castle Rock Our House and Triple Point Gold.
The next stop was close by so on to the Sheaf View, a Neepsend pub. Brewery beers on offer were Bizarron, Blonde, Mogollon and Ashta (an 8% Malt Stout) while other offerings included Vibrant Forest Betula, Marble Manchester bitter, Big Trip Microdose and Pentrich Sound meets Sound.
The Cremorne was the longest walk of the day between establishments and being a city pub had no large garden. The beer choice was also more limited but a couple of different options presented themselves, Red Willow Weightless, Brew Social Nice Drop, Vocation Heart and Soul and two Abbeydale offerings Moonshine and Daily Bread.
By this point hunger struck so onto the Clubhouse for a bite to eat and a choice from Sharps Solar Wave, First Chop Joe Oatmeal Stout, Farmers Blonde and Red Willow Weightless before catching the train home.
Overall a very enjoyable day out for the Amber Valley crew.
